About Debre birhan Dairy cooperatives

Debrbirhan Dairy Cooperative Located in Debre Birhan, in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. approximately 120 kilometers northeast of Addis Ababa. the Debrbirhan Dairy Cooperative was established in 2024 through a merger of 9 dairy cooperatives.

As of 2024, the cooperative has a registered membership of 2,016 individuals and holds assets valued at over 20 million Ethiopian Birr. It employs 37 permanent staff members who support its daily operations.

The cooperative’s primary focus is the efficient collection and marketing of milk, with a current daily collection volume of 10,000 liters. In addition to its milk-related activities, the cooperative supports its members by providing a variety of animal feed supplies, crucial for sustaining and enhancing dairy production.

Looking towards the future, the cooperative has ambitious plans to expand its services. These include the introduction of Artificial Insemination (AI) services to improve livestock genetics, veterinary (VET) services to ensure animal health, and broader extension services to disseminate knowledge and best practices among its members.
